A PDF editor deals with files that can contain far more than text: signatures, addresses, identification numbers, financial records. Where those files go matters.
PDF Tool performs document operations on your device. Opening, merging, splitting and exporting a file does not require uploading the document to a processing server. CV creation follows the same approach.
Local processing is one boundary
The app reads a file you choose, applies an operation, and writes the result locally. You can save the output or send it through the phone's share sheet.
Once you share it, the destination becomes another boundary. A mail app, messaging service or cloud drive handles its own copy according to its own rules. “Processed on your device” does not mean a file you deliberately email stays only on that device.
Network access is another boundary
A mobile app can process documents locally and still make network requests. PDF Tool includes advertising, remote configuration, optional reporting and downloadable CV-theme packs.
Those services are separate from document processing. The distinction should be visible in the product's copy and privacy policy. Calling an app “offline” without explaining its network services would leave out information people need.
Keep the original
Local processing doesn't remove the need to check results. Compression may change image quality. Conversion may lose formatting. OCR can read a character incorrectly.
For important files:
- Keep an unchanged original.
- Preview the output after processing.
- Check signatures, page order and sensitive content before sending it.
- Store the final copy somewhere you can recover it.
A shorter workflow is useful. A recoverable workflow is better.
